To say we are in love with this place is an understatement. It’s our first winter as caretakers of Irvineside Farm and no place has ever felt more like home.

The hearth of the wood stove is warm and the wood is piled high and dry outside the barn, to get us through this Canadian winter. We may be the only people to ever be this excited to accept a delivery of a cord of wood, but you have to understand, living in the country has been a dream for our family for as long as we’ve been a family.

In a few months, it will spring again and we’ll be getting the grounds ready to welcome our glamping guests – and we are even more excited about that than the cord of wood delivery!
Why? Because we get to be hosts to a place we are completely smitten with (look at that house!) and we get to be virtual ambassadors to the amazing sites and cultural events that make Elora, Fergus and surrounding areas a unique place to visit and explore.

Elora has been our home for 15 years. We lived in Fergus for about a decade too. The community (now called Centre Wellington) has been a huge part of our lives, having raised our children there. The natural landscapes were our playground. The shops and restaurants have been our local experience, and as culture-lovers and sports enthusiasts, we have volunteered and/or attended some of the best cultural events in the province, no – the country! So when we say we’re going to welcome guests to town, we really mean it. We’re going to help them plan an adventure and set off for fun, and come back to the peace and quiet for a little R & R – or, you know, stay and spend the day reading a book on the porch of their tents.

Either way, we want people to be welcome, relaxed and hope that they too fall in love with this special place.

Now, to get ready for the glamping season! Much to learn and all-in to make our dream a reality!
